Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
